David Dolan

Author & Casino Reviewer at Non GamStop Casino UK

Born 7 October 1979  ·  Sunderland, England  ·  Writes in the first person

I’m David Dolan. Most people who recognise the name know me from a boxing ring, not from a casino review. I fought as an amateur and then as a professional from 2006 to 2013. These days I write the reviews and explainers on Non GamStop Casino UK — the pages that answer a simple question UK players keep asking: if a site sits outside GamStop, is it still worth the risk, and on what terms?

About me

I was born on 7 October 1979 and I am English. I came up through Plains Farm ABC in Sunderland. The nickname from those years was Dolo. I am 6 ft tall. None of that is decoration for this page. It is the background that shaped how I look at pressure, preparation and other people’s claims — including the claims a casino makes about licences, bonuses and withdrawal times.

I do not present myself as a regulator, a lawyer or a former casino operator. I am a former fighter who now spends his working week reading terms, opening accounts where it is lawful to do so for research, timing payouts and writing down what actually happened. If a fact about my boxing record is on this page, it is a public record. If a fact is about a casino, I will say how I checked it.

My boxing career

As an amateur I won the British heavyweight title three times — in 2000, 2001 and 2002. In 2002 I boxed for England at the Commonwealth Games in Manchester in the super heavyweight division. I beat Jerry Butler of the Bahamas, Star Tauasi of Niue and Kevin Evans of Wales, then won the final against David Cadieux of Canada, 27–20, for the gold medal.

Later that period I dropped back to 201 lb. At the World Championships I lost in the second round to Viktar Zuyev, a southpaw who put me down twice. I also split a pair of contests with the American Matt Godfrey. At the 2005 World Championships I lost to Elchin Alizade, who went on to the final.

I turned professional in 2006 and boxed until 2013. At regional level I challenged twice for the British cruiserweight title, in 2009 and 2013, and once for the Commonwealth title in 2009. That is the career. I do not dress it up as a world-title story it was not. What it did give me is a long apprenticeship in reading a room, surviving a bad round and not taking a promoter’s line as gospel.

How I moved into non-GamStop casino reviews

When I stopped fighting in 2013 I did not walk into a newsroom. I stayed around the same North East rooms I had always known — gyms, fight nights, working clubs — and I listened to the same conversations UK punters have been having for years: a bonus that looked generous until the wagering showed up, a withdrawal that sat in “pending” for a week, a site that worked until GamStop closed every UK-licensed door.

Friends and gym mates started sending me links. “Is this one safe?” is not a casual question when the operator is licensed offshore and is not on the GamStop register. I began keeping notes the way I used to keep notes on an opponent: what they said, what they did, where the hole in the story was. Those notes became the first pieces I wrote for this site.

I did not rebrand myself as an “iGaming veteran of fifteen years”. I brought a fighter’s habit of verification to a market that is noisy, affiliate-heavy and easy to oversell. Non-GamStop casinos are not a loophole I celebrate. They sit outside the UK Gambling Commission’s day-to-day player protections. My job is to describe that trade-off in plain English so a reader can decide with their eyes open — or walk away.

What I cover on this site

On Non GamStop Casino UK I write the reviews, comparison pages and explainers that sit behind the headline lists. The work concentrates on the points that actually decide whether a UK player should touch an offshore brand:

Licensing and who stands behind the site — Curaçao, Anjouan, Kahnawake or another authority — and what that licence does not give you compared with a UKGC operator.

Banking for UK players: cards, e-wallets, open banking and crypto; minimums; the gap between advertised payout speed and the clock I start when a cash-out is requested.

Bonus maths. Wagering, max bet during playthrough, game weighting, expiry windows and the small print that turns a “welcome package” into a trap.

Game libraries and live tables only insofar as they affect fairness and withdrawal rules — I am not here to write slot poetry.

Responsible gambling tools that still exist when GamStop does not apply: deposit limits, time-outs, self-exclusion on the operator’s own books, and where to go if play has already got out of hand.

How I review a casino — and why you can hold me to it

I write in the first person because I want the judgement to have a name attached to it. If a review on this site says a withdrawal landed in under twenty-four hours, that is because I timed one, not because a press sheet said so. If I cannot verify a claim, I say so. I do not invent licences, company numbers or regulator names, and I do not bury a poor payout record under a pretty lobby screenshot.

Commercial relationships, where they exist, do not buy a ranking. A brand can appear in a list because the product is usable for a UK audience researching non-GamStop options; it does not appear because someone paid for a complimentary adjective. When I am wrong, I correct the page and change the date at the top.

I also keep the boxing record honest on purpose. Readers and search engines both ask the same thing about an author on a gambling site: who is this person, and did they make themselves up? I am David Dolan, born 7 October 1979, Commonwealth Games gold medallist in 2002, professional boxer from 2006 to 2013. The reviews are the second chapter. Treat them as one man’s tested notes, not as a licence to play.

Contact

If you need to reach me about a review, a correction or a right-of-reply from an operator, write to the editorial desk. I read the author inbox. I do not take private “can you get my withdrawal moving” briefs — that is a matter between you and the casino, and often the regulator that licensed it.
