SEND Inclusion and Specialist Support

The Inclusion and Specialist Support Service is here to support children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and those who are vulnerable and at risk of missing out in education.

Who we are

Inclusion, Assessment and Review

The team work with children and young people, (some of who may have SEND, 0-25 years), to make sure they are supported in school to achieve the best they can. We work with schools to try and prevent exclusions and coordinate the EHCP process to ensure young people receive effective support in education.

Who we are

Sensory Teaching Advisory and Resources Service

Our staff help children and young people (0-25 years) with visual and hearing impairments, their parents, and adults who work with the child to understand visual and hearing impairments, and how it may affect the child’s day to day life, both at home and at school.

Who we are

Early Years Specialist Support Service

Our team supports children (0 – 4 years) who have special educational needs and or disabilities in nursery settings.  We help in the early identification, assessment and intervention for children and provide outreach and inclusion support.

Who we are

Educational Psychology

Educational Psychologists (EP’s) support the achievement and wellbeing of children and young people, aged 0-25 years. In particular we aim to promote the educational and social inclusion of any vulnerable groups of children and young people including those with special educational needs.

What is an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP)?

Many children and young people with Special Educational Needs and/disabilities (SEND) may need extra help with learning at school and college. Many will have an Education, Health and Care plan (EHCP). The plan sets out the support you need to help you achieve what you want to achieve.

It will have information like:

  • Who you are
  • How you communicate
  • What you want to achieve
  • Why you need help with things
  • What kind and amount of support you need, and how often you must get it
  • Where you go to school or college.

Your EHCP can carry on until you are 25 years old, unless you get a job, start university or if it is felt that you don’t need it anymore.
